Morphett Vale Christian Community Church began as Southern Districts Christian Assembly, established through "The Christian Brethren". Each assembly of believers was completely autonomous over the direction, administration and leadership of the church.

In 1990, the present building was built and named Woodcroft Christian Centre. After the council redistributed boundaries, the church changed to its current name in 2022 to identify with the district. MVCCC retains its autonomy within its membership
